Karen Beach

​Karen grew up in Pennsylvania and has lived in Charlottesville for 10 years. Karen has a Masters degree in Speech Language Pathology from The University of Virginia and is a Certified and Licensed SLP. She has a passion for supporting children to develop a strong foundation in phonemic awareness and other early literacy skills in order to support their ongoing literacy journey. She believes in the power of play to make learning meaningful. Karen deeply enjoys watching learners "crack the code" and take off with their literacy journey. Karen enjoys knitting, sewing, and spending time with her family in all the lovely outdoor spaces Charlottesville has to offer. 

Kristen Luybil

Kristen grew up in Pennsylvania and has lived in Charlottesville for 4 years. She taught elementary school for 10 years and her expertise is in literacy. She has a master of arts in education, specializing in reading and literacy in early and middle childhood. Kristen has a passion for teaching reading and loves seeing the joy in her students when they make connections with letters, sounds, and the meaning of text. Student growth is always at the forefront of her teaching goals and she is inspired to help each individual student learn. Kristen enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, exercising, and exploring Cville!
